Secret tips and not-so-secret tips

"Sporty" tips

Anna: Whether jogging or walking, the path through the Oberstdorf valley is completely flat and beautiful in every season. If you want to run a longer loop, then walk on to Café Karatsbichl, a beautiful old house and the cradle of skiing.

Christine: Just let yourself go, that's the motto of my "unicycle tour". From Oberstdorf to Oberstaufen, that's a crisp 40 kilometres one way. If you don't want to cycle back, you can also take the train. The route is ideal for everyone because it is almost entirely flat in the valley.

"Hiking" tips

Anna: I love the Trettach valley. Whenever I have time, I walk through this fantastically beautiful valley. You can start right at our front door.

Christine: No matter how many times I have been up to Gerstruben, I find it impressive and beautiful every time. The wonderful old houses in the rugged mountain world.... Hard to imagine that people could live here permanently in the past.

Tips for excursions on site and in the surrounding area

Anna: Why don't you go to Linderhof Castle instead of Neuschwanstein? The park, the surroundings and the castle itself are truly overwhelming. And even the drive to the castle is a pleasure when you're comfortably gondolaing along the country road.

Christine: Just under an hour away is the former Roman town of Kempten in the Allgäu. I always enjoy strolling through the charming old town here, shopping or enjoying a café in front of the Residenz. The city also has a lot to offer culturally.
